Delhi Metro has informed commuters that services in one section between Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat on Yellow Line will remain closed till the end of operational hours on 8th March 2023 for scheduled maintenance work. On other sections, metro services will start services from 2:30 pm today due to Holi.

This means passengers using the Yellow Line from the Huda City Centre side will be able to travel only up to Central Secretariat metro station. Similarly, passengers travelling from the other end of the Yellow Line, Samaypur Badli, will only be able to go up to Rajiv Chowk metro station. The DMRC advised passengers to use alternative routes for onward travel.

Delhi Metro said as the section between Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat on Yellow Line will remain closed today, passengers can use Violet Line to travel between Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat directly. Passengers on Blue line who wish to travel between Central Secretariat and Huda City Centre (Gurgaon) can de-board at Mandi House and use Violet Line to reach Central Secretariat.

Passengers on Yellow Line, who wish to travel beyond Rajiv Chowk or Central Secretariat or vice versa have been advised to de-board at respective stations and use Violet Line and Blue Line to reach Central Secretariat or Rajiv Chowk, Delhi Metro said.

“On the day of the ‘Holi’ festival, i.e., 8th March, 2023 (Wednesday), Metro services will not be available till 14.30 hrs (2:30 PM) on all lines of Delhi Metro including Rapid Metro/Airport Express Line,” Delhi Metro said in a tweet.

According to officials, the Metro Feeder bus services will also resume after 2:30 PM on March 8. Ahead of Holi, Holika Dahan, a ritual that symbolises the victory of good over evil is performed.

During this festival, people put tilaks with holi colours on each other’s foreheads. Holika Dahan has cultural significance in addition to its religious significance. The festival of Holi celebrates the spirit of inclusiveness and humanity heralds the onset of spring after winter in the Indian subcontinent. The festival marks the victory of good over evil is celebrated on two days – Holika Dahan and Holi Milan.
